NAUTRONIX Success Stories

We have recently supplied our acoustic only BOP control system NASBOP to Cameron Corporation for installation as the primary control system on the FDPSO Azurite for operations on Murphy Oil Corporation the Azurite field, offshore Congo. Not only will it be the first time operations have ever taken place with no physical connection between the topside and subsea isolation device, but it is also the first time the technology has been used on an FDPSO. As a safety critical piece of equipment we are delighted additional contracts from Stena Driling and Shell E&P Houston for enhanced NASBOP systems highlight the confidence in the system and our technology.
Our other safely critical device is NASBOP’s ‘little brother’ EBOP (Emergency BOP). This has been developed as a secondary control system offering a back up with immediate activation should the primary control fail. The system uses the same subsea equipment is used as NASBOP but as a cut down version for irregular and emergency use the topside equipment is more compact to cater for the different operational imperative. As a result disconnect can be controlled by a fixed installation onboard the rig or by a hand portable deck / life boat unit following rig abandonment. We are delighted to have sold our first EBOP system to Diamond Offshore Drilling for use onboard the Ocean Clipper in Brazil and as the provision of a secondary control system is now a legal requirement for all drilling operations taking place in Norway and Brazil we are excited about the future of this product.
Our ‘underwater GPS’ system NASNet® has been developed by the company over the last 7 years with over £12 million invested in R&D. As a result we have had a real milestone in the company’s success with the completion of a project for Subsea 7 on the Agbami field offshore West Africa which provided total coverage for an area of approximately 50Km2; this is believed to be the first time anyone in the world has achieved such wide field coverage with so few transponders.
We have also completed our first ever field-wide deployment of NASNet® MS (a smaller version of NASNet®) on the Frade field, offshore Brazil for Acergy US Inc.
